Round history: New Stores Round 1 closed May 2024, Round 2 closed December 2024, Round 3 "expected early 2026" per the source page as of this access date — current status of Round 3 is unconfirmed. Equipment Upgrades Round 2 closed December 15, 2025. FY2026 total program allocation is separately reported at $13,000,000. Grantees may also qualify for HIB tax incentives. Reimbursement grant, two sub-programs, competitive rounds

Eligibility

New Stores in Food Deserts: local units of government and small businesses with fewer than 500 employees and no more than 4 existing grocery stores, establishing a store in a designated food desert. Equipment Upgrades: existing independently-owned for-profit, cooperative, or not-for-profit grocery stores, for energy-efficient equipment.
